eleased in 2016, and now available again, LA BESTIA UMANA is the first CD by the Abruzzese SFARATTHONS, a concept album with an environmental theme based on texts by Argentino D'Auro. The title track of the album, "La Bestia Umana", develops in a rhythmic crescendo that, at each step, adds pathos to the melodic line and gradually is embellished with never predictable musical phrases, sublimated by the persuasive sound of Geoff Warren's flute. . The English flutist, extraordinary guest of the Sfaratthons, enriches the songs "Smog" and "La dolce illusione" with his notes. Here his articulate solos create a suggestive intertwining between the moog lines and the electric guitar riffs, producing sounds that bring straight back to the most classic atmospheres of Italian and European progressive music of the seventies. Drums and bass give sudden changes of direction through syncopated and enveloping passages that characterize the style of a post-modern progressive, with one eye turned to history and the other directed to the future and new contaminations. In some songs we can also find metal shades (think of the songs "Il verde" and "Epilogo"), and jazz (this is the case of the decided cinquequarti of "Civiltà Perduta", seasoned with a dizzying free jazz style sax solo) . Electronic music sometimes peeps into rock opera, as in the song "Life in a prison". The closing suite, "After", opens with the desolate notes of a melancholy piano arpeggio that sets off a hypnotic crescendo in which the sound of strings, mellotron, choir, timpani and winds combine to majestically lead the opera to its dramatic finale.
