Passover, a group from Trieste born in 1993, have been a novelty for some time, at least on the national scene. It is difficult and simplistic to catalog them: behind almost twenty years of happy activity, especially on stage, with an enthusiastic response from the public every time; a group that has not lost its edge over the years and is constantly looking for 'daring' combinations between popular music, rock, pop and 'Klezmer' (from Kley Zemer, literally a musical instrument in Hebrew and today a term used to define the traditional musical genre as well of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe), Passover, while maintaining the rigorous canons of classical music from which all the members of the band come, blend Psychedelia, Prog Rock and Folk creating refined and clean melodies, deliberately free of technicalities and 'useless' tinsel. The album "What Do You Want?" (Ma.Ra.Cash Records, 2021) is a happy example: a collection of scores from the Floydian school blend with popular rhythms; Tracks that, apparently free in terms of texts and contents, are perfectly linked to each other, giving life to a single and fluid narration. "By the Train" and "Alone", which open the album, are actually two pieces already contained in the group's first album (SLD, year 2003). The desire of Davide Casali, author of almost all the texts (except for Hallelujah), was to re-propose the old pieces elaborated and arranged by the hand of the new formation. The texts, in the Anglo-Saxon language, tell of teenage rebellions of children ("Throw your Mom" and "A and B") and the meaning of our existence (text from the Title Track '' What do you want? "). “Never for Me” tells us about the deep pain of a life of prostitution and deep loneliness. The album closes with a reinterpretation (text by Tiziano Bole) of the Hebrew Psalm 150 "Hallelujah".
