Seven years after "Licanthrope", all is set for the release of "Microsolco", the highly anticipated new album of new prog band Mangala Vallis. A long span of time, during which many things have happened such as line-up changes, with the exit from the band of Bernardo Lanzetti (which continues his artistic collaboration with Gigi Cavalli Cocchi and Cristiano Roversi on the CCLR project) and Riccardo Sgavetti (bass player), and the arrival of Roberto Tiranti, extraordinarily gifted singer and bassist and with a rich pedigree (New Trolls, Labyrinth, Ian Paice and Glenn Hughes). It's no news that Mangala Vallis, always the prefectionsts, devote much time to the creation of a new album, and this change of line up had already begun taking place after the release in 2009 of the DVD "Live Intergalactic Video Archives", with the arrival Cristiano Roversi (Moongarden) on keyboards: this made the whole composing process dilate even more. "Microsolco" (microgroove) is a concept album that launches a virtual bridge with the previous album. Here too the concept is based on the dizzying pace of present times and the will to return to a more natural lifestyle. The songs tell of what will happen on 21/12/2012, inspired by the much-discussed theory of the end of the world. In fact in"Microsolco" is told the "end of a certain kind of world", that takes place when a hacker creates a virus that will destroy the digital memory of the entire planet. This will force all mankind to a reflect deeply and revive ways of living that has been dormant for a long time. Essentially it will bring humanity closer to the essence of man and mother earth. You might call it an album of "fantasy-new age-prog" concept. Musically speaking, however, the typical soundscapes and style of MangalaVallis are all there, but there's room for more "rock" episodes. The versatile voice of Tiranti interprets it wonderfully, in an album that continues the stylistic groove pattern set with the first two albums, and that will intensely please lovers of good prog rock.
